Photography by Clare Scott

As you may already know I have recently taken up photography. This week has been such a good week photograpy-wise I just had to tell you all...

Firstly, one of my photos made it onto the 8th episode of BBC Autumnwatch Unsprung. The photograph they showed was the one above.... an Angle Shades Moth.

Secondly, I have recently joined a local Photography club. I entered the competition last Monday night... and came away with three firsts! I couldn`t believe it... a hat trick =)

Thirdly, I have launched my photography website

There are a number of Galleries where you can see my nature photography.

Most of them are available to purchase.

Prints start from £3.50 for a 3.5"x2.5" print... they would make a great Christmas present for all wildlife lovers.

If you would like any more information regarding my work, please don`t hesitate to contact me by email
claredscott@hotmail.com

I hope you are keeping warm on these wintery days.

Take good care,

Clare x

Links, Links and more links!

I have just arrived back from a few days away visiting my Grandad over on Anglesey with my sister and her new baby Isabella. We are well rested (and well fed!) and ready to get back to the torch tomorrow... I do miss it when I`m away.

There have been a few changes in the world of 'Beads by Clare Scott' over the past few months. I thought I`d give you links to all things 'Beads by Clare Scott' - your one stop reference point!
I have decided to open an outlet for 'made to order' beads on my website. Sometimes it is pretty hard going creating new designs all the time... so I decided to make past designs available. They can be seen here...

Please remember if there are ever any sets from the past you would like, just drop me a line and I`ll see what I can do. Some beads are one offs, bt some I can re-make. Obviously they won`t be exactly the same, handcrafted art never is... but I`m sure you wouln`t want that anyway...
Ok, next in line is my Artfire shop! It is very much like Etsy. Keep your eye out for discounts on the right hand side of my shop page.

I`m so excited to tell you about my latest endeavour.... Photography.
I am having so much fun with my new camera. I absolutely adore being outside, taking pictures of all things nature.
I have just joined a local Camera Club, where I entered six photographs into their Club Competition. I was astonished to find my photographs had won 10th, 6th and 3rd (out of 80 photographs) in the 'General' Category. In the A3 Size Category, my photograph won 3rd place (out of 18 photographs). In the Black and White Category, my photograph won 3rd place (out of 30 photographs).... and last but not least I won 2nd place in the 'Projected Image' Category.
Beginners luck I reckon!

Stone-Age beads....

Two blog updates in two day?!
That`s virtually unheard of in these parts.

Well, I`ve just been so busy thinking up new beadies for you, I thought you`d want to see them!

This set has to be a favourite of mine, I love the way dark silver plum reacts in certain temperatures... the peacock, oil slick colours are amazing.
I have named them 'Primitive'

Someone commented on my beads today - they said
'your work is so natural and flowing(organic)'
I was soooo happy! I just love the outdoors, and if this can be seen in my beads, that is wonderful.

These beads are called 'Indigenous'.
They are made with the same glass as the ones above...

Some more beautifully organic beads...

'Rivers of Babylon'

And last, but not least...

'Enchanted Forest'
Just like the pillows I made the other day, but in nugget form.

I hope you have enjoyed looking at my beadies.

Have a great weekend,

Clare

Enchanted Forest

I walked through a field the other day and noticed a disused, overgrown wooden bridge over the ditch... I walked over it into a beautiful secret wooded area.... the light falling through the trees, so calm.. just me, and lots of cobwebs.

This inspired me to make these beads I have entitled
'Enchanted Forest'

A few more sets to show you this week...

Fleur de la perle

 Océan de bleu

Mer D'Or

Hope you like them.

Though I`d show you a few of my nature snaps from this week...

I found this cute little enchanted toadstool... such a beautiful deep red!

Hope you have a lovely weekend,
Clare

The Organic Pantry Nature Walk

Yesterday I was invited to join a Nature walk around The Organic Pantry, located at St. Helens Farm, Newton Kyme, Near Tadcaster, North Yorkshire.

St Helens Farm consists of 273 acres of mixed cropping.
Situated between Tadcaster and Boston Spa the soil type is very much limestone based. The upside of that is that the soil is free draining the downside is the there is constantly rock and stones coming to the surface.
The farm runs down to the River Wharfe. A 20 acre Ings field which is in the Countryside Stewardship provides a habitat for no less than 54 species of birds.

The walk was lead by Mark, who works at the farm (is the keenest twitcher I know)... and his boss Jonnie Watson who informed us about the farm history and the interesting finds on his fields... a Roman bead, brooch, flint dagger, lots of coins, roof tiles etc... but the most interesting part for me, was of course, the nature.
The walk was intended for the customers of the Organic Pantry, I came along to take piccies and carry binocs and books... all good fun.

During the walk we managed to spot a kestrel sitting on a post, a magpies nest, a Comma and Tortoiseshell butterfly, a Crow having a dog-fight with a Sparrowhawk, a jay, a few Kingfishers, a buzzard, a Speckled Wood butterfly to name a few....

It was so great to be out in the fresh air.
What better way to spend your Sunday morning?

Nature Photos

I have always dreamt of owning a really nice camera.
Over the past few weeks I have been researching into which one I should buy.
I recently took the plunge and bought a fantastic Canon camera, with an awesome dedicated Macro lens.

All I can say is that it is the BEST thing I have ever bought!
I thought you might like to see a few piccies I have taken.

I have been asked by a few people if they could buy a print or two, so I have decided to put them on my website, etsy and folksy...

Thanks so much for looking, really hope you like them!
