Website issues!!

I could scream! I`ve been trying to update my website all day... will have to wait for the people at mrsite I guess...... grrr!

Anyway, I have created some glass beads from Champagne bottles which are available for you to buy. Exciting! They are a beautiful deep rich green colour obviously this varies with the type of Champagne bottle, but I`ve not had a yucky green yet!
Alternatively, you can send me your special occasion bottle so I can create beads for your own very exclusive and luxurious designs.

I`ve been Tagged!

I have been tagged by Veryan, Ali & Bille.
The rules are:
1. Link to your tagger and list these rules on your blog. 2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by including links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blogs.

Ok, so I have to tag 7 people in return, well I guess the buck stops here.
I think everyone I know has been tagged already, and I`m sure they found it hard enough to think of 7 things!!

7 facts about me? Hmmmm.......
1. I believe in what goes around comes around, karma & fate.
2. I am Vegetarian
3. I have a benign essential tremor in my hands (a teeny weeny shake which gets worse if I get stressed) which is why my beads are chunky and not very intricate - stringer work is a no no!
4. I love music and go to Leeds festival every year.
5. I am a Qualified Veterinary Nurse
6. I never want kids, cats are a perfect 'substitute'.
7. I believe Steve Coogan is a comedy genius.

Well thats it! Fallen asleep yet??!!

New boro beads - Draco

My fist sell-able boro beadies! Yay! they remind me of dragons...so I called them 'Draco' (the latin name for dragon)
They have a butterscotch and turquoise yummy vibe going on, encased in clear. Boro beads look much darker when seen in indoor lighting, this photo was taken outside.

My boro arrived!!

I thought I`d show you my first dabblings into the amazing world of boro!

I bought a few rods of the TAG Purple sable, which not surprisingly didnt turn out too great! Nevermind.... Rome wasnt built in a day and all that! Although, when I annealed them again in the kiln last night (well I wasnt going to lose much was I?!) I was pretty chuffed to say the least. the blues had become much more vibrant and there were now even pinky amber tones coming through. this glass is amazing! Can`t say I`m in love with it yet - it takes a massive amount of skill - I am totally in awe of what the pros can do!
Before:

After:

(Believe me its not just the lighting!)

If you would like to know more about borosilicate glass please visit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borosilicate_glass - it is massively detailed and more than you ever need to know.

From a lampworking beady point of view it is much harder to work with in the flame (imagine REALLY hard toffee rather than syrup) but can produce amazing earthy beads with fantastic colours. Oh yeah and the glass is much more expensive!

Poor little sparrow....

I was in the kitchen making my breakfast this morning when I heard a loud meow. It didnt sound like one of my cats... I found myself saying 'hello' dont know why, like I thought the cat would answer me?!! I went to investigate..... I walked out of the kitchen to find my cat looking very pleased with himself. He had brought me a little sparrow prezzie. The problem is it was half dead. I picked it up and ran round the house to find a box to put it in... found one, lined it with my black tissue paper (which isnt easy with one hand!) and proceeded to place the little bird in. Well, the bird wasnt as injured as I had first thought, It flew straight out of the box, past the cat which chased it down the garden. The next thing I heard was a loud crash as the cat launched into a bush the bird had flown into. I ran down the garden to try to rescue the bird again (with my tiger slippers on!!) but there was no bird, or cat for that matter in sight! Wierd! the cat is now firmly in my bad books.

What I was meaning to write was I have much better photos today - yesterday was not a good photo taking day! Here`s a preview:

Oh and a shell.... I made a shell!

A Glass bottle from a customer’s Wedding day can be turned it into beautiful jewellery, whether it is a pair of earrings or a charm bracelet which can be added to as the years go by, the bespoke jewellery will remind a bride of her special day.

‘The order book is fizzing with requests from new Brides, Brides-to-be, Bridesmaids, new Mother`s in Laws, even Grooms!’

The new collection is proving to be an instant hit with brides. A few customers have started to collect bottles from every wedding anniversary which will in time create a bracelet full of happy little recycled beady memories.

The range is also perfect for other special occasions such as Valentines, an Award Ceremony, Anniversary, or holiday to name just a few! I am not limited to Champagne bottles, your favourite red or white wine will create stunning jewellery too.

‘Surprise your new Husband with a pair of cufflinks made with his favourite lager or beer bottle!’

During a Bridal Evening in York with Celebrity stylist Bradley Taylor, Clare`s new concept in jewellery technique & design was highly praised.

Clare creates unique handcrafted beads from glass using the age old art of lampworking. This involves manipulating glass over an oxygen and propane fuelled torch in her studio. Clare works with 925 Sterling Silver and her unique glass beads to create stunning and individual designs.

‘Each bead is truly unique. That is the fascination of handcrafted art’

Prices Start From £50 - any design in my collection can be used.

Awards II

Ok, I had a few people in mind for this one, as I wanted to check if it was ok to give awards to people without blogs....... so this award goes to Jo Rohrer at Glasstales, , an established UK Lampwork artist. She is such a generous, confidence boosting, informative lady who helped me so much in the early days, giving me a huge amount of support and even visited me at my first bead fair. All this shows in her beautiful glass beads. So big hugs and huge amounts of thanks. Why dont you go and see for yourself..... www.glasstales.co.uk

Reactive glass lessons....

Yesterday I gave a 'reactive glass' lesson. (Hope you dont mind me using your pic Kathy!)
I think they are fantastic - these beads were produced on a 'hothead' torch - not my minor burner!! Wow!

He`s called Steg.

All my dino babies come with a personally personalised box!

The birth of baby dinos.....

Baby dinosaurs have arrived! They are sooooooooo cute!

They have such boggly little eyes, knobbles on their spine and lumpy feet. Infact they look just like real baby dinosaurs.... hmmmm, well nearly :)

They are ornaments - far too fragile to be used as a bead.

Gothika Barrels

I could get a little carried away with this new shape ..... silver rich glass with gothic black swirls decorate the surface.

Bead neglect.

Ok, I havent actually been neglecting beads. I couldnt. I haven`t been great at adding new beads to my site.

I have two new sets available to you - my lovely bead friends,

and a brand new bead shape - which I adore.

So chunky and gorgeous (unlike the description) - The barrel.

I`ve been playing with my silver glass (aren't I always!) and am so so so so pleased with what came out the kiln this morning. (Well strictly speaking I was really excited last night before they went in - reducing glasses dont change much when they have been in the kiln - but I cant get properly excited until I know they have survived the graveyard that is the kiln)

Oh lordy, I shut up now and show you........ I`m like a kid in a sweet shop!

'Mystical Barrels'

Fascinating silver blue & golden glass encased in clear. I could sit and look into them all day.

'Venus Planets'

Similar to the old favourite 'Psyche Planets' just darker and a little greener. Still as beautiful.
